Arrowbear Lake is close to a number of ski areas and lakes.
Big Bear City, next to Arrowbear Lake, is another city offering a variety of outdoor activities such as skiing, fishing and swimming.
Joshua Tree, next door to Twentynine Palms, is the gateway to Joshua Tree National Park. It lies outside of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley and is about 75 miles from the county seat in San Bernadino. With an average altitude of 2700 – 3000 ft. Joshua Tree is about 10 degrees cooler in the summer than the lower desert communities and about 20 degrees warmer in winter than the higher desert communities, creating a climate that’s enjoyable year-round.
Palm Springs is a larger city with about 43,000 residents offering the culture, sophistication, and opportunity usually reserved for larger metropolitan areas. Theatre and entertainment, shopping, restaurants, hotels and area activities are all on the menu. There are two municipal golf courses and six parks and playgrounds. Ride the world’s largest rotating tram 2 ½ miles up to scenic views and more. Year-round outdoor activities is Palm Springs calling card with skiing, horseback riding, off road, biking, hiking, camping and more.
San Bernardino National Forrest is home to many mountaintop lookouts for its and is visited each year by thousands of tourists.
Twentynine Palms, next door to Joshua Tree, lies adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. It is located just outside of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley and is about 75 miles from the county seat in San Bernadino.
Twentynine Palms Marine Corps. Base is adjacent to Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree and is the world’s largest Marine Corps. base. Each year, 50,000 marines participate in training at the base.
Yucca Valley, known for its beautiful landscapes, is near Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree and is known for its small clubs and coffee houses which feature many talented musicians of jazz, rock, country and blue-grass music. You can tour through the Old Town shopping district or relax in one of the many town parks. |
